SERVING STUDENTS

LITERACY

Literacy goes beyond reading and writing to include critical thinking and effective communication.  HCEF offers professional development for educators and learning resources for students.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Leader in Me is an evidence-based, comprehensive model that builds leadership and life skills in students, creates a high-trust school culture, and lays the foundation for sustained academic achievement.

PATHFINDERS PROGRAM

Henderson County Pathfinders Program connects middle and high school students with a community mentor. Mentors provide personalized academic support guiding students and assisting them in creating plans for their future.

SCHOLARSHIPS

HCEF currently administers over forty Scholarships totaling $125,000 each year for graduating seniors. 

SUPPORTING EDUCATORS

EDUCATION HALL OF FAME

Henderson County Education Foundation Hall of Fame honors those individuals who have demonstrated measurable influence and made significant contributions to the growth and development of education in Henderson County.

GROW OUR OWN

Grow our Own recruits students and staff members to train in an area of education and return to Henderson County to join the public school workforce.

MINI GRANTS

HCEF supports educators and students by providing mini grants to support professional development, special projects, and/or field trips.

STRENGTHENING SCHOOLS

SPRING FUND

The Spring Fund gives all 23 HCPS Principals $1,000 each year in discretionary funds to meet the day to day emergency needs of students. 

 THE ARTS

HCEF Advocates for the Arts by supporting strings, visual arts, dramatic arts, and performing arts programs in our middle and high schools. 

OUTDOOR EDUCATION

HCEF supports hands-on outdoor learning experiences that connect 5th grade students to the outdoor spaces in their backyards while aligning learning with the NC Science Standards.

STEM

HCEF supports STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math) by sponsoring professional learning for educators, providing science kits, funding mobile STEM labs, and supporting robotics teams at elementary and secondary schools.
