The Berrian Fund was established in 2004 with a distribution from Mae A. Berrian Trust for the benefit of the strings program of the music departments of the Henderson County Public Schools. Each year, over 500 students in middle and high schools benefit from the Foundation’s Berrian Fund and receive advanced instruction, participate in regional and state competitions, and prepare for college acceptance and scholarship auditions. Bi-annually the strings department puts on the Berrian Festival: fall for high school students and spring for middle school students.
The Advocates for the Arts Fund was established in 2014 and provides support for visual arts programs and students through $500 teaching support grants to high school visual arts programs. Advocates For the Arts of Henderson County’s mission is to bring the arts to the people of Henderson County through funding sustainable arts education as it continues its established efforts in various venues throughout the county.
The purpose of the fund is to provide ongoing income to support the dramatic arts in Henderson County by providing a stipend each year to teachers involved in the dramatic arts programs in the Henderson County public high schools to enhance their programming. Established by the Belfry Community Players, funds are received annually from the Community Foundation of Henderson County.
