Letterland Alive!
Letterland Alive! took the stage in the fall of 2019 across Henderson County Public Schools elementaries. The Henderson County Education Foundation secured funding for and collaborated with North Carolina’s state theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse, and HCPS’ Elementary Education & Title 1 Department to bring HCPS’ phonics program to life for the district’s 3,000 kindergartners, first-graders and second-graders. Letterland Intervention Kits

In the summer of 2019 HCEF received a grant from Wells Fargo Foundation to purchase Letterland Interventions kits for all 13 elementary schools. Services will be provided as supplemental support for students who are struggling to acquire and/or demonstrate basic literacy skills sufficient for their developmental level. The Letterland Intervention Pack I includes the Intervention Teacher’s Guide 1, as well as supplemental materials for use with the program, including phonics readers and letter/sounds cards.

Approximately 553 students will utilize Letterland Intervention services for the 19-20 school year.

Read 180 & System 44 Upgrade
In the fall of 2018, HCEF received a grant from Wells Fargo Foundation to upgrade System 44 and READ 180 for the district. These programs are used in four middle schools and two high schools in Henderson County to support struggling readers and close the achievement gap for these students.
