Shirley began educating children in Henderson County at Fletcher Elementary in 1972. She finished her 35 year career there in 2007, after 10 years as principal. Energetic, popular, kind and focused on excellence. Teacher of the Year at Rugby and for Henderson County in 1988. She knew each child by name and never too busy to show kindness to others.
