The Ruby Jones King Scholarship for Excellence is awarded annually to one student graduating from East Henderson High School.  It was started in 2016 by the family and friends of Ruby J. King on the occasion of her 90th birthday in appreciation for her outstanding success as a community leader, business woman, and supporter of youth and education. The $1,000 scholarship is non-renewable.

Qualifications

Student will:

  • graduate from East Henderson High School.
  • have a 3.25 or higher weighted GPA.
  • apply and be accepted into an accredited 4-year college or 2-year college.
  • demonstrate service, dedication, leadership and perseverance in school and/or community activities.
  • demonstrate need for financial support to attend college.
  • Preference will be given to students from single parent homes or who are homeless.

Requirements While Enrolled in College

Student will provide the Foundation with reports of enrollment, grades and academic status.
