Charles Byrd served as Superintendent of Hendersonville City School from 1984-1993. He was North Carolina Superintendent of the Year in 1992. A man of honor, ethics and moral courage. He initiated year-round education and before-school and after-school child care in elementary schools. “He made people want to work for him.” “He supported staff, made sure they had the tools necessary.”
