Horizon Heating & Air Named HCEF’s “2018 Small Business Sponsor”
$20,000 Donation Gifted During National Public Schools Week

In honor of National Public Schools Week (March 12-16), Horizon Heating & Air has donated $20,000 in unrestricted funds to the Henderson County Education Foundation, making the local business the Foundation’s “2018 Small Business Sponsor.”

One of the largest business donations to the Foundation to date, the $20,000 gift will support public education in Henderson County throughout the calendar year by impacting each facet of the Education Foundation’s programming and services.

“Dan Poeta and Horizon Heating & Air are amazing partners of the Education Foundation of Henderson County,” said Executive Director Summer Stipe, “Dan has been a leading voice in expanding The Leader in Me initiative in Henderson County for the last two years.”

Therefore, $10,000 of the donation will directly support the expansion of The Leader in Me school transformation program into three additional elementary schools (Atkinson, Edneyville, and Fletcher) in the 2018-19 school year. The gift also supported four schools (Clear Creek Elementary, Dana Elementary, North Henderson High School & West Henderson High School) through the Foundation’s School Sponsorship Program.

Additionally, the donation makes Horizon a sponsor for the Foundation’s Education Celebration event, which annually honors individuals who have made significant contributions to education in Henderson County Public Schools. Donation funds will also underwrite the dinner at the annual Golf Classic on October 8, which is one of the Foundation’s largest fundraising events.

“This is the best kind of donation a nonprofit can receive, because it can impact everything we do,” Stipe said. “We are so grateful for Dan’s leadership and generosity that propel the Education Foundation to further its mission of supporting educational excellence in Henderson County Public Schools.”
