The Hendersonville Lions have served the Hendersonville Community since 1938, improving the quality of life of visually impaired residents, supporting youth activities and helping provide food for those in need. The Lions motto is “We Serve.”

The Hendersonville Lions Scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior student planning to attend a community/technical college, college or university. Eligible candidates will pursue studies toward eye care, eye research, hearing, or other health related areas and come from one of the following high schools in Henderson County: East Henderson High School, Hendersonville High School, North Henderson High School, West Henderson High School, Balfour Education Center or Hendersonville Early College. The scholarship will be for $1,000, awarded for one year and be used to cover the cost of tuition, books and fees.

Qualifications

The successful applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduating from East Henderson, Hendersonville, North Henderson, West Henderson High Schools or Hendersonville Early College
  • Demonstrate acceptance to attend a community/technical college, college or university
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrate financial need
Requirements while enrolled in college
  • The student will maintain at least an overall B average while in pursuit of a college degree directed toward eye care, eye research, hearing, or other health related areas, and
  • Maintain regular contact with the scholarship committee and/or HCEF officials, including providing proof of progress, grades and other eligibility requirements.
